My life, one photo at a time.

I recently returned from a vacation to Denver, Co. where I saw Modest Mouse, The Dirty Heads, Matisyahu and Sublime with Rome. It was such a fun trip. The music was absolutely awesome. I got to see a lot of friends and spent some time with my sister and her boyfriend. I didn’t take very many pictures because I hate lugging that big camera around some times; besides it was nice to just hang out for a while. Anyway, we went to a lake near Boulder and did some swimming/slacklining. More photos after the Jay-You-Em-Pee…

I only brought one lens with me for the entire trip, a borrowed Canon 50mm 1.8. It was fun trying a new lens and the 1+1/3 extra stop was absolutely awesome!!! The only downfall is I think the 50mm sucks on a 1.4x crop body camera. I think it would be perfect on a full frame camera; I felt like I was always a little too close with it on my 40d. I only brought this one lens because I was considering ditching zooms since they can not even begin to compare to fixed lenses. I’m still on the fence until I get my hands on a 5d!!! It was kinda neat to get back and see what happened without the ability to zoom. I think my compositions still worked and I found myself cropping very minimally. One last thing about this lens… Limited Depth of Field baby!

I have to say, it’s cheating to be a photographer in Colorado. It’s too easy! This was in the middle of a park in the middle of a town for crying out loud!!! This stuff just doesn’t exist in Southeast New Mexico. Jealous ;(

It's ah me, Mario. Power-up!

Yeah, we played a lot of Mario and some drunken Shaq-fu! Good times!

Crystal

Crystal recently returned from the Telluride Bluegrass festival and she turned me on to a lot of really sweet Bluegrass. Of coures Cadillac Sky is awesome, but Mumford & Sons and the Carolina Chocolate Drops are pretty gosh darn good in my book of things that I think are pretty gosh darn good.

One last thing… I’m heading up to Yellowstone for a photo/climbing adventure. If you for whatever reason live between here and there and would looove to hang out and/or offer me a shower (cause it’s gonna get smelly) I would greatly appreciate it!!!
