A storage tank erupted into flames at the refinery in Artesia Tuesday afternoon while several men were working on top of the 40 foot tank.
Two men were critically injured while an additional two men were killed.
As I understand, one man fell into the tank while another man held on to the side of the tank until he eventually fell to the ground and was announced dead on arrival.
I hope for the best for the families of the two men who died and the two men who survived.
I hate to exploit a tragedy. I will never understand why our society needs to consume tragedies.
I like to think that by acknowledging a tragedy it humbles the soul and reminds us of how fragile our lives really are.
I hope these images made this tragedy tangible. I hope they made people feel lucky to be alive. I hope they made a difference in a positive way.
